We are buying a home for Teen Challenge

It is with great pleasure that we can now definitively report that Teen Challenge Tasmania will have a bricks and mortar home for operations in less than two weeks. The sale of the Launceston building to TCT will settle early August, secured with a combination of generous donations and loan.

Many of you have generously contributed to our callout for donations to make this dream a reality, and we are so grateful. The vision you have shown by partnering with us financially has been humbling and uplifting.

This update is for those of you who have felt a prompting to give, but haven’t yet acted on it. We would love to reduce the amount we need to loan for the building purchase, and have 5 working days to do so. Can you help? Don’t forget that Teen Challenge is a registered charity and any donations are fully tax deductible

Going Forward

Mobile Mission Maintenance will be assisting us to renovate the building to suit our purposes. The St John Street building has beautiful art deco features which we intend to restore to their original splendour. The upstairs area has timber floors and an existing theatre space, which will accommodate our training programs, ministries and projects beautifully. We are excited to see the transformation, which will include reinstating a kitchenette, renovating a bathroom to include a shower and reinstalling the original 1930s theatre seating. We hope to have all of this completed by Christmas, and already anticipate it being a space we can hire out to recoup some of the costs. We can’t wait to show you the before and after photos!

Down the track, we also have plans to establish a cafe at floor level to encourage engagement with the community while also providing training opportunities for young people.
